Trip to Nagarkot
On 27th December 2024, all the staff members from Digital Gurkha went to Nagarkot for a quick refreshment. This was a long awaited trip and finally, we went!
We chose to stay at Nagarkot Community Homestay suggested by (Nepali Homestay), which was 20.5 km away from our office. We finished our respective work, ate lunch, and took off at around 1:30 pm. It took us exactly an hour to reach our destination.
The hostess of the homestay welcomed us. They were wearing traditional red sarees. They offered marigold flowers and Khatas to the entire group.
After the welcome ceremony, one of the hosts from the homestay gave us a brief information regarding their community homestay. Basically, they started running the homestay 14 years ago.
All the husbands and wives of the Bastola neighborhood came together as a team and started this beautiful hospitality journey. We stayed at their houses, eating what they cooked daily. Each group had 4-5 members. Males and females were taken to different houses to stay.
After a while, we were offered snacks. We had popcorn, gundruk, radish pickle, and chilled buttermilk. The homestay hosts were very nice, which gave us a homely feeling.
After an hour, we decided to go to Rani Jhula. It was a 250 m-long suspension bridge. We took pictures and even sang songs while crossing the bridge. We could clearly see the river under the bridge. Although, a scary moment but worth the hype!
We returned back in an hour and started preparing for the BBQ session. We were given logs by the host along with a grilling pan. We started pouring drinks into cups and danced with music on.
This was the first time that all the DG staff came together as a unit and had fun. We played lots of fun games had lots of fun the entire night, and even played cards.
The next morning everyone ate their breakfast in their respective homestay.
Afterward, we walked to a nearby Temple, returned, and took some rest.
At 11:00 pm, everyone ate their lunch at their respective places. Then, we gathered stuff and got into the van and came back to our office from where we dispersed to our respective destinations.
An employee’s point of view
I found this trip to be an amazing stress buster. Many of us are dealing with our own problems but this kind of trip helps us to take a day off from our busy schedule.
We tend to open up more with our colleagues during these kinds of gatherings which makes socializing easier. Not only that, it also shows that our organization thinks about its employee’s well-being. It also creates an environment where the work culture is positive.
